Who is this Lithuania eSIM for?
For a Belgian or Dutch SIM card, Lithuania behaves like home: the European roaming rules apply, and your plan works at your domestic rate. This eSIM is for anyone arriving from outside the EU or EEA who would otherwise pay their home operator's full international rate, anyone on a very cheap or unlimited plan who runs into the fair-use data limit, and anyone staying in Lithuania for months at a time — for that last group, the operator may check over at least four months before applying a surcharge, and only after a warning with at least two weeks to adjust.
Mobile internet, 4G and 5G in Lithuania
Lithuania has one of the most saturated mobile networks in the European Union. According to the European Commission, 5G reached 99.72% of households in 2025, above the EU average of 96.79%, and 99.12% of sparsely populated areas. The fast 3.4–3.8 GHz band reaches 77.93% nationally, also above the EU average of 74.75%; in rural areas that band stays at 26.97%, below the EU average of 33.71%, though it grew 82.3% in a single year. Only 15.37% of the population uses a 5G SIM card, well below the EU average of 55.55% — a matter of adoption, not network quality.
Choosing your network in Lithuania: Bitė Lietuva's advice
Modestas Ropė, next-generation networks director at operator Bitė Lietuva, warned Alkas.lt in April 2025 that phones in Lithuania sometimes connect to a Belarusian or Kaliningrad network instead of an EU one — recorded in some parts of Vilnius itself, not only at the border. His advice: turn off automatic network selection so you choose which network you connect to, and switch off mobile data once your phone is roaming. This advice applies to any SIM card in Lithuania, including an Ariya eSIM — no SIM card is immune to it.
Frequently asked questions
Does my Belgian or Dutch plan work in Lithuania?+
Yes. Lithuania is an EU member state, so your plan works there at your domestic rate. Keep the fair-use data limit in mind on a very cheap or unlimited plan, along with the rules that apply if you stay in Lithuania for months at a time.
Do prepaid SIM cards have to be registered in Lithuania?+
No, Lithuanian law does not require this for prepaid SIM cards.
Why does a Lithuanian operator recommend choosing your network manually?+
Modestas Ropė, next-generation networks director at operator Bitė Lietuva, reported in April 2025 that phones in Lithuania sometimes connect to a Belarusian or Kaliningrad network instead of an EU one, including in some parts of Vilnius itself. His advice: turn off automatic network selection and switch off mobile data while roaming — for any SIM card, not only Ariya's.
How good is 5G coverage in Lithuania?+
Nearly universal: 99.72% of households according to the European Commission, above the EU average of 96.79%, and 99.12% in sparsely populated areas. Yet only 15.37% of the population uses a 5G SIM card, well below the EU average of 55.55% — despite the excellent coverage.
Does my phone support eSIM?+
Most recent smartphones (iPhone XS and newer, recent Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel) support eSIM. Check your settings for an 'Add eSIM' option.
When should I activate my Lithuania eSIM?+
Install the eSIM before departure over wifi, but only enable data roaming once you arrive in Lithuania, so your plan starts at the right time.
How do I receive my eSIM?+
Right after payment you receive the QR code by email and in your Ariya Mobile account. Remember to check your spam folder.
Can I top up my plan?+
Yes, simply buy a new Lithuania eSIM plan when your data or validity runs out.
